HONG KONG, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- A total of 89,137 crimes were recorded in 2025, representing a decrease of 5.9 percent compared with 2024, the Hong Kong police said on Wednesday.
The number of violent crimes dropped by 15.9 percent to 8,823 cases. Deception also registered a slight decrease of 2.9 percent. Robbery and burglary crimes are at the lowest level on record, the police said at a press conference reviewing the overall law and order situation in Hong Kong in 2025.
Since the national security law in Hong Kong and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance came into force, the Hong Kong Police Force's national security department had arrested a total of 385 persons as of the end of 2025. More than half of them had been charged, the police said.
