Commissioner's Office of Chinese Foreign Ministry in HKSAR urges foreign politicians to stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs

HONG KONG, June 7 (Xinhua) -- A spokesperson for the Commissioner's Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Saturday expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to some foreign politicians for blatantly interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs.

The spokesperson responded to recent groundless remarks made by the foreign politicians on the national security law in Hong Kong and their blatant interference in national security cases.

The spokesperson said that under the protection of the national security law in Hong Kong, the social order in the HKSAR is well maintained, justice is upheld, the rule of law is defended, and the legitimate rights of residents and the investment and business environment are better guaranteed.

The spokesperson said that Hong Kong is a society governed by the rule of law, where no one enjoys extralegal privileges, and all illegal acts are subject to legal consequences. The judiciary of the HKSAR exercises judicial power independently in accordance with the law, ensuring fair and just procedures that are beyond reproach.

The spokesperson emphasized that some foreign politicians have disregarded the fact that their own countries have multiple national security laws, ignored their own poor track record on human rights and the rule of law, and violated the fundamental principle of non-interference in internal affairs.

These politicians' blatant attempts to undermine the rule of law in the HKSAR exposed their hypocrisy and double standards, the spokesperson said, urging them to recognize the facts, change course and immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
