Commissioner's Office of Chinese Foreign Ministry in HKSAR protests foreign interference over Jimmy Lai case

HONG KONG, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Commissioner's Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Dec. 17 and 18 summoned representatives of several consulate generals, including the United States and the United Kingdom, among others, as well as representatives of relevant organizations based in Hong Kong, lodging solemn representations against interfering remarks made by the officials and politicians from these countries and organizations regarding the lawful conviction in the Jimmy Lai case.

The office expressed strong concern and firm opposition, and urged those countries, organizations and politicians to abide by international law and the basic norms of international relations, respect China's sovereignty and the rule of law in Hong Kong, and refrain from interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
