Statistics show Macao visitor arrivals remain stable in January

MACAO, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Visitor arrivals to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) totaled 3,647,328 in January 2026, holding stable year-on-year, the SAR's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) reported on Monday.

The department also said that same-day visitors rose by 4.6 percent year-on-year to 2,254,699, while overnight visitors fell by 6.6 percent to 1,392,629. The average length of stay remained at 1.0 day.

Visitor arrivals from the Chinese mainland dipped by 1.6 percent to 2,705,231, which the DSEC attributed to a higher comparison base during the Chinese New Year holiday a year earlier. Arrivals from Hong Kong fell by 1.3 percent, while those from Taiwan increased by 20.7 percent.

International visitors grew by 15.5 percent, according to the statistics, with strong gains from Southeast and South Asian markets.
