Central gov't office for safeguarding national security in HKSAR supports punishing destabilizing activities

HONG KONG, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The anti-China forces seeking to disrupt Hong Kong and those with ulterior motives have attempted to destabilize Hong Kong as the whole country was making all-out rescue efforts, which should be severely punished in accordance with the law, the Office for Safeguarding National Security of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) said on Saturday.

These rioters have spread false information, maliciously attacked rescue efforts, provoked social division and incited resentment against the HKSAR chief executive and the HKSAR government, a spokesperson for the office said.

The spokesperson added that the HKSAR government has clarified the fact, countered the evil attempts and put an end to these misconducts.

The office firmly supports the HKSAR government's efforts to crack down on attempts to destabilize the city during disasters, punish activities that endanger national security, and counter foreign interference, the spokesperson said.
