HONG KONG, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index extended its winning streak to three days on Tuesday, riding Monday's positive momentum to a strong open before accelerating gains in the morning to hit a near four-year intraday peak.

The benchmark index opened 77.16 points higher at 25,711.07 points, then gathered steam through the morning session to break above the 26,000 level, its highest intraday mark in nearly four years.
