Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 3 (ANI): Praising the historic performance of Indian players in the Asian Games, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said players are making the country proud.

India are on course for its biggest ever-medal haul at the Asian Games as athletics ended an action-packed Day 10 of the event with the glut of medals at the continental meet in Hangzhou.

India won 70 medals at the Asian Games 2018 - its highest-ever medal tally at the continental event. India ended Day 10 of the 19th Asian Games with overall 69 medals- 15 gold, 26 silver and 28 bronze.

"Every player of the country is playing not for medals, but to realise the dreams of the country and now the government will fulfill the dreams of its players", CM Yogi remarked.

It is worth mentioning here that CM Yogi has implemented a novel scheme of providing jobs in the Uttar Pradesh government to medal winners of various national and international competitions, including the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games in order to promote sports among the youth and encourage players, an official statement said.

A large number of players have benefited from this policy of the Yogi government.

Last year, Chief Minister Yogi felicitated the achievers of the Olympic and Paralympic Games at a public ceremony. (ANI)
