SEOUL -- The command of U.S. forces in South Korea has tightened anti-virus rules due to surging COVID-19 cases among their servicemen, the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) said Monday.

The USFK said in a statement that it has increased its health protection condition to "Bravo Plus", which began to be effective on Saturday and would be maintained until further notice.

The number of COVID-19 cases, confirmed inside the USFK bases between Dec. 28 and Jan. 3, totaled 682, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. (South Korea-USFK Quarantine Measures)

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's new opportunities amid changes reshaping the economic landscape have been highlighted at the 15th Asian Financial Forum (AFF) which opened Monday.

"The distress and disruption caused by the pandemic over the past two years have taught us the importance of preparing for global crises. That certainly includes climate change," said Carrie Lam, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

MANILA -- The Philippines reported 33,169 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, a new record daily spike, pushing the number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 2,998,530.
