Hong Kong reports 42 new COVID-19 cases

HONG KONG, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported 42 additional confirmed infections of COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking its total tally to 9,385.

All the new cases were locally transmitted, with 11 of unknown origins, according to a CHP press briefing. There have been no imported cases for two consecutive days.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, 568 COVID-19 patients are currently being treated in public hospitals and the community treatment facility at AsiaWorld-Expo, and 41 patients are in critical condition.

A total of 157 have died of COVID-19 in public hospitals.
