Germany to attract skilled foreign labour
Hong Kong News.Net Tuesday 8th July, 2008
Germany is about to begin a campaign to attract foreign labour.
The government plans to bring in measures aimed at relieving a shortage of qualified workers in certain sectors.
Companies in Germany have been asked to determine what kinds of skills will be needed in the coming six months so work visas can be arranged.
Certain sectors of the biggest European economy, notably high-tech, have been held back by a serious shortage of engineers, programmers and qualified technicians.
A proposition for foreign labour is expected to be presented to the full cabinet in one week.
