HONG KONG, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government strongly disapproves of a U.S. decision to impose another 10-percent duty on products of Hong Kong, which put the accumulative tariff at 20 percent, a spokesperson for the HKSAR government said Tuesday.
The United States' measures violated relevant World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, undermined the rules-based multilateral trading system and harmed the interest of both sides, said the spokesperson.
The HKSAR government urges the United States to take immediate actions to rectify its wrongdoing and withdraw the unilateral tariff measures, according to the spokesperson.
"The HKSAR government strongly opposes any unreasonable behavior that disregards the international trade order," said the spokesperson, who confirmed that the HKSAR government will file a complaint regarding the matter with the WTO to defend its legitimate rights.
